I recently ventured into an online purchase from Standún, opting for the Newbridge Silverware Blue Stripe Set of 4 Side Plates, drawn by their simplistic yet elegant design. While there's much to praise, particularly concerning the seller, potential buyers should be aware of the product's fragility, especially with routine handling and care.
Firstly, I cannot commend Standún enough for their impeccable service. The plates arrived in an astonishingly timely manner, meticulously packaged to ensure their protection. The unboxing was an experience in itself; it's clear that Standún values customer satisfaction and goes to great lengths to guarantee their products arrive in pristine condition. This level of dedication and care from the store was a high point in my shopping experience.
However, despite the beauty of these plates, they falter significantly in durability. They were bought as replacements for a previous set wherein a plate had succumbed to a minor fall, breaking quite easily upon a rather soft impact. This fragility was a concern, but I attributed it to a one-off mishap — an optimism that didn't play out with their successors.
Using these plates for everyday dining quickly proved impractical, particularly for a household that relies on the convenience of a dishwasher. After just a few cycles, I noticed unsightly chipping along the edges of the plates, a clear sign that they were ill-suited to the rough-and-tumble of regular machine washing. This was a disappointing discovery, as one would reasonably expect a certain degree of robustness from such day-to-day dinnerware.
It's important to note that the issue lies solely in the product's manufacturing and not with Standún. The store provided a first-rate service, and there was no indication that the quality of the items they dispatch should be anything less than excellent. It's unfortunate, indeed, that the Newbridge Silverware didn't meet the expectations set by Standún’s high service standards.
